Located in the northwest of Calgary, Montgomery nestles in the Bow River valley, approximately 8 km from downtown. The community is well established, yet is still growing by means of renovation of its older buildings, and it's not difficult to see why. This view to the west is from one of the many parks found in and around the area. Market Mall is located a few blocks north, and Foothills hospital is nearby to the east. The TransCanada Highway passes through the area, and Shaganappi Trail, (in foreground), runs by its eastern boundary. Across the Bow River is the CPR main line, and above that is Sarcee Trail, rising from neighboring Bowness along the hillside. There are shops and services all along the TransCanada Highway and parts of Bowness Rd. Also in the area you'll find Montgomery J. High School and its mural, Terrace Rd School, Bow View, James Shouldice Manor and Lodge, (seniors communities), playgrounds, medical and professional services, Shouldice Pool, extensive sports facilites in Shouldice Park and nearby Canada Olympic Park, churches on 52 St, 46 St and 17 Ave, the historic John Hextall bridge, bicycle paths, and the nearby Euro-Canadian Cultural Centre. The community is well serviced by City Transit buses and a community shuttle service.
