Bow Falls sits adjacent to the Banff Springs Hotel. Although not spectacularly high like, say Niagara Falls (it's
been described as "violent rapids"), it is nonetheless an dramatic sight, particularly during the spring runoff when the
volume of water passing over the gorge increases by up to 10 times that shown here.
The Banff Springs Hotel was originally built in the late 1800's, although it has undergone
several expansions and renovations since. Referred to by many
as "the Castle in the Rockies", it continues to provide luxurious accommodations to
visitors from around the world.
