Vimy Peak catches the late evening sun just before sunset and after a thunderstorm. The mountain was named to commemorate the World War 1 battle in which Canadian soldiers distinguished themselves. It's a long hike, but there is a trail to the top of the peak - it rewards you with spectacular views of the town and down the lake.

Trail rides, always popular with visitors, are available at the stables located just east of town. They offer rides of varying lengths and departure times, and follow several different routes, including some to the high backcountry.
