Millenium Park Overview
| This shot, taken from near the 14th Street overpass along 9th Avenue uses the downtown skyline as a backdrop. The park is located on the former site of Mewata Park and more recently Mewata Stadium (Mewata is a Cree word meaning "to be happy" or "pleasant place"). Visible landmarks include the full pipe in the expert area of the park (left side of photo), the many ramps, gullies and other fixtures that comprise the main skateboard area (centre), and the construction zone behind the concrete that will become the clock tower. The large brick building in back of it all is Mewata Armouries, while the white dome behind the full pipe is the Science Centre. |
