University of Calgary CCIT Building

This structure, with a shorthand name that is confusingly close to the ICT building, will be built on the other side (west side) of the main Engineering Building. According to a recent article in the Calgary Herald, it will be 3 storeys high and cost $35 million. When complete in late 2002, it will provide roughly 6500 square metres of space for in bio-engineering, intelligent technologies, infrastructure, and natural resource technologies -- areas that support our traditional oil & gas industries as well as emerging technologies. It will also allow the engineering school to add 150 additional graduate student positions, raising the total to 600.

So far it's not much more than a fence around a big hole, but equipment is assembling and work has started. Here are some early photos of the site.
