Calgary Downtown Tour Looking North at 4 Avenue and 9 Street SW

Straight ahead is the Louise Bridge, a heavily used North West entrance and exit from downtown. Just over the bridge you will find the popular Louise Landing and Kensington shopping areas. To the left is one the major westerly exit routes from Calgary's downtown core - the 4th Avenue exit. This route traces the south bank of the Bow River for about another kilometer westward and then branches out to highways heading North, West, and South. The railway tracks leading over the bridge are part of Calgary's Light Rail Transit System (LRT), and this section extends to the North West areas of the city. Its current terminus is Brentwood, but work is already underway to prepare for an extension.
