| Calgary Downtown Tour | Looking East at 5 Avenue and 2 Street SW |
|
The park in front of this glass-clad tower features an elegant pond which is most refreshing during the heat of summer. The managers of Fifth Avenue Place (or Esso Plaza as it was once known) used to let the pond freeze over in winter for skating and great Christmas light displays. However in recent years, they just drain it -- too bad. The new TCPL tower can be seen rising behind the eastern tower. When complete, it will be around 35 storeys and house all company staff that are currently spread out in 2 other locations around town. |
