Calgary Downtown Tour Looking East at 6 Avenue and 11 Street SW

It's early June and a lot has changed in the 2 months since we last visited this corner. The AXXIS Condominium in the backbround has most of its glass facade in place and interior work is proceeding. The Marquis (foreground) is advancing rapidly -- underground parking floors have been poured.

Meanwhile, West Pointe Plaza (right-most crane in background) is now above-ground. And plans have been announced for two more towers (14 and 26 storeys) on the rest of the parking lot at this intersection. Construction is supposed to start later this year, so this corner will become a nightmare for commuters. Call it progress.

June 3 2000:We happened to be downtown and caught the dismantling of the AXXIS construction crane. Here are some photos of this milestone.
