| The Canada Life Assurance Building, on the right, was originally built in 1912-1913. Its distinctive vertical thrust was created by Montreal-based architects Brown and Vallance using long, narrow arches that rise from the 2nd through 5th floors and completely encase the windows. The building remained in service until the construction of Banker's Hall, east tower and shopping complex. However the facade remains, cleverly incorporated into the overall design and serving as a reminder of its past glory. |
