Calgary Downtown Tour Looking South at 8 Avenue and 2 Street SE

Part of the upgrading of some of Calgary's historic buildings, such as the Burns Building pictured here, has been their adaptation to the Performing Arts centre and related social amenities. Inside is a complex of several theatres, restaurants and coffee houses, linked to the Convention Centre and hotels by the Plus 15 pedestrian system. The system's link to the Municipal Building is seen on the left. The Burns Building is also the current home of the Calgary Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Traffic on MacLeod Trail is coming at us from the south on the one-way system. Ahead is a bridge which takes the road under the CPR tracks. This is a busy area, so expect some delays at times.
