The building straight ahead is the Calgary Science Centre (also known as the Planetarium). It contains a number of exciting, "hands-on" exhibits for all ages, and boasts one of the best multi-media theatres in North America. The statue is entitled Wolfe, presumably for the general who led the victorious English army against French forces under General Montcalm during the Battle of the Plains of Abraham in Quebec in 1759. (We aren't sure how this piece of history ties into Calgary or the science theme...). |
