This building, Western Canadian Place, was built in 1983 just at the end of an "oil boom" that contributed significantly to Calgary's rapid growth during the late 70's and early 80's. Home to the Husky Oil Company, Western Canadian Place received awards for its building architecture and design. Once inside, visitors find an attractive setting featuring a prominent sculpture titled "The Builders" based on a "reaching farther and higher" theme amongst the fountain and greenery. As well, several restful areas with lounge chairs turn coffee breaks into enjoyable, albeit all-to-brief meetings among colleagues.
