New Telus Convention Centre

The new Telus Convention Centre expansion officially opened on Tuesday May 30, 2000 -- right on schedule and in time to host its first major booking -- the World Petroleum Congress which starts on June 11 and runs for 5 days through June 15.

This state of the art facility features over 50,000 square feet of new exhibition space (all on the second floor) plus ground level retail space and an underground parkade that will hold 432 vehicles. It also boasts the latest advances in telecommunications capabilities, high speed internet access, video-conferencing, and satellite services. When combined with the existing facility across the street (which is linked by a Plus-15 pedestrian bridge) the Telus Convention Centre offers 120,000 sq.ft. of exceptional exhibit, meeting and banquet space. And with the new Hyatt Regency Hotel just next door plus the recently opened Round-Up Centre expansion only minutes away by LRT, Calgary now provides an unbeatable site for meeting and convention planners.

Here's a quick tour around the facility plus a couple of shots of the opening ceremony at the end.
