Calgary Tower
Location: 9 Ave & Centre St S

Calgary's signature landmark was built in 1967-68 and originally called the Husky Tower, after one of the principal partners in the project. It was renamed the Calgary Tower in the early 1970's. The large cauldron on top was added for the 1988 winter Olympic games, along with a new, fire-resistant communication antenna. The cauldron is still lit on special occasions, like New Year's Eve and Canada Day. Views from the observation deck (525 feet above street level) are spectacular, and the revolving restaurant just below the observation level is one of Calgary's finest.
