McMahon Stadium
Location: Crowchild Trail & 20 Ave NW

Named after a local family of philanthropists who helped fund its construction in the 1960's, McMahon Stadium set a construction record of sorts - it took just 100 days to complete the structure. It continues to be the home stadium for the Calgary Stampeders (pro football team, CFL) and the University of Calgary Dinosaurs.

The stadium is also used for special events (rock concerts, fairs, etc.). Perhaps its greatest moment happened in 1988 - it was the site of the opening and closing ceremonies for the 15th Olympic Winter Games.
