The stampede stock show annually replays that part of the heritage of the stampede, namely the
rural agricultural fair. Judging takes place in all categories of animals (sheep were the
focus of attention on the day we attended). The cutting horse competition, always a crowd
favourite, attracts competitors from all over North America. Back in the barns, there is
lots of opportunity for young people (and not so young) to get up close to these lovable
(and maybe some not so lovable) critters.
