World Petroleum Congress 2000

The 16th World Petroleum Congress took place in Calgary from June 10-15, 2000. Over 3000 delegates from nearly 100 countries participated in a series of conferences, technical sessions and social events, designed to provide updates on current issues and technical advances, and opportunities for renewing and establishing new contacts. Expected protests took place, but fewer than anticipated people took part (the largest was about 400 people on opening day) and all were peaceful. Police even escorted the marchers to clear traffic out of the way!

Access to the site was restricted, however we were able to attend the "Global Business Opportunities Centre" event that was set up in the new Convention Centre. Here is a quick tour showing some of the exhibits and some of the delegates.
