From our vantage point just above the CPR tracks to our left, we are looking east along the Bow river towards downtown. Behind us the path joins the Douglas Fir Trails east of Edworthy Park. The fir trees are rare this far east of BC, yet they somehow survive the Chinook winds of Calgary. It is common to see deer, coyotes and other wildlife in the natural corridor formed by the Bow river valley. More rarely the odd bear or cougar visits Calgary along the valley when food is short in the high country to the west. Click here to see a 301 KB enlargement.
