The Race Track from Scotsmans Hill

Only the ice in the Elbow River gives you a clue that this is December. In the middle-right is the shell-like structure of Lindsay Park Aquatic Centre, and beyond it you can just make out the peaks of the Rockies, pushed away by the wide-angle lens.

We are standing on Salisbury St in the Community of Ramsay. This is a good vantage point at any time of the year, offering views of Stampede Park and the Downtown skyline. But it is particularly popular when Stampede events and firework displays are scheduled. You can access the street from Victoria Park by following 12th Ave east, and crossing the MacDonald Bridge. Two right turns bring you out onto a narrow strip of park that runs along the escarpment. (back)
