| The former Weston Bakery Seen
here from Scotsmans Hill, the bakery was built in
1929/30 after the previous Mitchell Bakery burnt
down. The bottom floor was for assembly equipment
and ovens, while the top floor was for making
cakes. Stables and garages were also features of
this bakery, which was capable of producing 1800
loaves per day.
This view to the west along 14th Ave at 6th St
shows the former bakery in its latest role as
storage for the Stampede. There were no signs on
the building when we visited it recently, and the
only clue to its usage was a stack of road signs
on the west side. (back)
