This block was built in the period 1914 -1929 and was named to recognize the first radio broadcast by CFCN Radio in 1922. At that time 1st Street was an important commercial corridor, which warranted this construction during an otherwise depressed period in Calgary's history.

We are standing across 1st Street looking northwest at the buildings, which now house entertainment businesses. And yes, that is the tail of an aircraft sticking out of the wall to the right. (back)
