Downhill Bike Racing Pictures - Normal Enlargements
These pictures of downhill bicycle racing were taken at the Wednesday evening events held during June 2002 at Canada Olympic Park, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. If your browser supports frames, these pictures are available in the Viewer for easier viewing.
Canada Olympic Park, (COP), has an extensive network of trails which can be used by cyclists during the Summer months. For the adventurous cyclist there is a course that runs down the slopes just east of the luge - bobsled track. Check with COP or its web site for more information.
The downhill bike course starts at the top of the ski lift west of the ski jump towers. Cyclists negotiate obstacles over open ground and through trees, before arriving at a steep slope near Curve 8 of the luge - bobsled track. At the bottom of this slope the bike trail turns right and continues down to the finish line at the Day Lodge. Spectators can use the path on the east side of the luge/bobsled track to see most to the trail. Check with COP staff for regulations and safety advice.
