These pictures of the Bow River Raft Race were taken on 18th August 2002 at Calgary, Alberta, Canada. There is also a gallery of Raft Race Vista Pictures taken during the Raft Race, plus galleries of prior year races.
The race is sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Eagles and, as usual, the word "Race" is used in it's loosest sense, because the main objectives are to have fun and raise money for charity. After the 11am start in Bowness Park, rafters steered east past Bowmont Park and fought several water fights with the crowds at the bridges on the way down to Edworthy Park, where there was a lunch break. At 2 pm the race resumed as the crews set off towards downtown and the official finish at Princes Island Park. This is the third year we've covered this charity event.
