Bareback Riding has the cowboy using one arm to hold the handhold of a leather pad cinched around the horse. The rider must stay on the horse for eight seconds and is awarded points for the wildness of the ride. Disqualification occurs if the rider fails to keep his feet over the break of the horse's shoulders until the first jump out of the chute is complete. He must also not touch the horse or equipment with his free hand.
