Calgary Stampede and Rodeo Photographs
Indian Village

These pictures of the Indian Village at the Calgary Stampede were taken in July 2002 at Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This is one of several galleries of photographs taken at the Stampede. Click here for gallery index.

The Indian Village exhibit demonstrates aspects of traditional Plains Indian culture and is located by the Elbow River next to the Grandstand. You can see examples of native dance, handicrafts, games, cooking, ceremonies, tepee building and a Pow Wow. Tepees are open to visitors at certain times and interpreters are available to provide information and commentary about the culture. Our photographs also show the dancers performing on the Grandstand Stage.

Click the "Menu" button on the left to select Stampede events and photograph quality.  The menu also has a "gallery" option which lets you see the thumbnails from the Home Page.
