These pictures of animals in the Calgary Zoo were taken in the Fall of 2001. It took several visits to the Zoo to photograph the animals, yet each time there was something new to see. I have not covered all the exhibits by any means, and new facilities are being added. For example, the "Destination Africa" site was under construction during my visit.
The Zoo is located just northeast of downtown Calgary along the Bow River. The park occupies a large area, with many connecting walking trails between exhibits. There are indoor and outdoor features that make the Zoo worth seeing at any time of the year. In some cases I had to photograph through thick glass or wire enclosures, but as you can see, that's not a major problem.
